My child can barely read. Can I still use BuddyBooks?BuddyBooks will not teach your child the fundamentals of reading, but it can build their reading skills. BuddyBooks is a multi-modal system, that provides 3 alternatives to interacting with your child. The standard mode is alternating sentences. The computer reads one sentence, and your child reads the next, alternating as they progress through the book. A more advanced mode is alternating paragraphs. The computer reads one paragraph, and your child reads the next, alternating as they progress through the book. A simpler mode is "echo mode". The computer reads one sentence, and your child reads the SAME sentence. Then the computer reads the next sentence, and your child reads that SAME sentence. Parents have told us that their child learn from this activity. Many children will read the a book several times in echo mode and then attempt to read that book in alternating sentences. Echo mode is also effective for students with a learning disability, such as a teenager reading at a 2nd grade level.
